RideLondon has announced that it will return on Sunday the 29th of May 2022 with a three-day UCI Women’s WorldTour road race and a 100-mile sportive.

The event, established by the Mayor of London in 2013 after the 2012 Olympic Games, had previously been cancelled for a second year due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

Essex will host stages one and two for the three-day UCI Women’s WorldTour road race that takes place from the 27th to the 29th of May next year.

A full route for the RideLondon-Essex 100 will be announced in early 2022, but entries will open on Wednesday the 10th of November. The first 10,000 placed in the new 100-mile challenge ride will be available on a first-come, first-served basis with entry costing £89.

The RideLondon-Essex 100 allows participants to ride on traffic-free roads through both London and Essex, starting and finishing in the capital while taking in 60 miles of rolling roads through Essex’s countryside.

After the first 10,000 entries are sold out, the remainder of general entries will be available via a ballot. This will close at 17:00 on Thursday the 20th of January 2022 and entries also cost £89.

RideLondon event director Hugh Brasher said, ‘RideLondon has inspired hundreds of thousands of people to cycle more and to date it has raised an incredible £80 million for charities. We are proud of all it has achieved and excited about our plans for 2022 onwards.’
