First look: David Millar's Chpt.III Collection 2.0

13 Feb 2017
Verdict:

Wider variety and brighter colours from David Millar's latest line

Price:
K61 jacket £350, body warmer £180, LSWBL base layer £160

Collection 2.0 is David Millar’s update of his Castelli-made Chpt.III clothing range, introducing more types of garment and adding bright contrast to the range’s signature muted colour palette.

The rosso fuoco hue (orange to you and me) of the K61 jacket was not chosen purely for cosmetic reasons, however.

‘The colour was chosen because of the visibility it offers,’ says Millar. ‘When you’re caught in a storm there are two concerns: protection from the weather but also protection from vehicles. The K61 offers both.’

Experience tells

Millar’s hard-earned experience informs other details in the new collection. The LSWBL base layer is made from merino-wrapped nylon, as this is ‘comfier, warmer and stronger’ than normal merino, according to Millar, but is also casually styled as Millar took to wearing long-sleeved base layers off the bike.

Where bright colours aren’t used, dm: Chpt.III Collection 2.0 returns to moody shades of blue and green.

‘The body warmer is understated – Chpt.III kit is designed to last longer than fashions,’ says Millar.
