US bike manufacturer Trek has moved further into the gravel market with the release of a full line of bikes. The Trek Checkpoint range is an entirely new platform of gravel bikes.

Adventure and cyclocross bikes already exist within Trek's range in the shape of the Crockett and Boone 'cross machines, and the Domane Gravel that popped up last year.

However, Trek is careful to point out that the Checkpoint range is not a new iteration of any of its existing frames but an all new geometry and set-up.

The Trek Checkpoint bikes are built with Stranglehold dropouts, wider tyre clearances and extra mounts.

Top of the pile

The lead model, the Trek Checkpoint SL 6, carries a Shimano Ultegra 2 x 11 drivetrain and Bontrager Paradigm Comp Disc wheelset with Shimano RT800 Ice-Tech FREEZA disc rotors.

Entry level gravel rider

At the other end of the range is the the Trek Checkpoint ALR 4 which comes equipped with the latest version of Shimano Tiagra in 10-speed.

Consistent across the range are the 700 x 35c Schwalbe gravel tires, tubeless-ready Bontrager wheels and flat-mount disc brakes.

Gravel geometry

The new bikes come with what Trek says is a gravel-specific geometry. This should translate into long-range comfort on rough raods without compromising on a fast and agressive ride.

Availability

The bikes should be available for purchase, check your local bike shop.
