Cote d'Azur cycling brand, Cafe du Cycliste, is a company that pushes French style and fashion into its range. Founded by friends Andre and Remi, Cafe du Cycliste offers well-tailored road cycling & city riding garments, born from a love of French cycling heritage.

Inspired by the mythical cols, cafes & culture of road riding, Cafe du Cycliste clothing does not play by the rules of conventional cycling kit and is experimental in both the cuts and designs. The brand successfully marry design with a fabric choice and fit.

With a wide range of city casuals to dedicated winter and summer ranges for men and women, we took a closer look at some staples for colder months.

The Cafe du Cycliste Heidi jacket is a great winter riding jacket that will make you appreciate the colder days, but I have to admit when I first saw it I was not convinced.

It did not look like any cycling jacket I had used before and wasn’t sure it would be great for a long day out on the bike. I was immediately proved wrong.

The Heidi is windproof, breathable and high wicking, specifically designed to keep you warm in cold conditions.

The jacket achieves a careful balance of technical excellence, comfort and style. This jacket is for the coldest, dry days out on the bike.

The long elasticated wrists keep the jacket snug, this combined with the fleece lining and windproof panels on the front means it keeps you warm.

However, it is made for dryer climates than London. The jacket is not waterproof, and the thick warm material tends to absorb any rain making for a damp ride.

Sizewise I have found all Cafe du Cycliste kit comes up a bit small. I usually wear a small or UK 8 in regular clothes and have had to upsize to a medium. Even then the kit fits quite snuggly.

What stands out to me most about Cafe du Cycliste is that it attempts to break the convention of what cycling clothing needs to look like.

It pulls inspiration for its kit from outside of the cycling world and creates pieces that genuinely look great both on and off the bike.

I have had so many compliments on the Heidi jacket from both non-cyclists and cyclists, and it has quickly become one of my favourite items in my wardrobe.

The Heidi is currently on sale for £135.00 and available in three colourways including blue and black.
