Price:
£100

Known for its top end and premium priced racewear, Rapha has continued its shift towards wider markets and more affordable products with the release of the Rapha Commuter Jacket in both women's and men's fits. Lightweight and waterproof, the jacket is an outer layer to be thrown on for rainy rides to the office or across town.

Cycling to work is growing in popularity, even in the face of slow progress from those in charge in cities such as London, and those who ride know it's a great way to start the day and always better than the tube.

However, it doesn't rain on the tube and poor weather can put many people off the two wheeled option when heading to work. Weather resistant road cycling apparel like the Castelli Gabba have their place but what about those riding to work in the clothes they'll be in for the rest of the day?

After all, normal people riding to work in normal clothing is the aim when seeking to make cycling a universal travel option.

The new Rapha Commuter Jacket, available in men's and women's fits, is a new option for those wanting to throw a waterproof layer over their office clothing.

As Rapha says, people who cycle commute 'know what they need from their outerwear: a highly visible, waterproof, and well-priced jacket.'

With a lot going on behind the scenes and changes afoot at the British brand, its product offering is shifting too.

The Rapha Commuter Jacket has been made to be up to the challenge of city riding. The jacket has been made in mind of rainy morning rides as well as those heading to the pub after work.

A microporous fabric that is made to be hardwearing and breathable and has been made exclusively for Rapha, with a hydrophobic membrane and DWR treatment for additional waterproofing.

Rapha makes solid claims about the jacket's abilities saying, 'this fabric technology combined with a robust, fully seam-sealed construction will keep you riding to work all year round and ensure the Commuter Jacket endures for many seasons to come.'

With that in mind, it'll be put through its paces over the next few weeks so check back for a full review.
