Lucy Pittaway’s gift range contains a wealth of wonders for budgets big and small

This feature was produced in association with Lucy Pittaway and first appeared in issue 52 of BikesEtc magazine

As the old saying (nearly) goes: We don’t know much about art here at BikesEtc, but we know what we like. And we do very much like the art of Lucy Pittaway.

Why? Because it’s great. Indeed, regular visitors to this parish will know that we’ve celebrated Lucy’s exquisite renderings of the sights and landscapes of the Tour de Yorkshire before.

Since her work last appeared on these pages, however, Lucy’s been named the Fine Art Trade Guild’s Most Popular Selling Published Artist of 2018. Which proves we were right all along!

Although Lucy is first and foremost a wonderful artist, as her vibrantly colourful depictions of the Tour attest, her art has now made it off the canvas and onto all manner of Christmas gift possibilities for fans of cycling, art and, well, cycling art.

If you want to drink coffee from something more inspiring than a plain old cup, then why not treat yourself to a Lucy Pittaway design mug (from £14.95).

If you want to dry off said mug afterwards, you can then do so with a Lucy Pittaway cycling print tea-towel (£9).

If you want to then make notes on how much you enjoyed drinking from your mug and using your tea-towel – hey, you never know! – then there are exquisite cyclist print notebooks (£8.95) for you to scribble your thoughts down in.

And if you’re looking to give someone something a bit special this Christmas, then there’s always Lucy’s magical artwork itself.

Prints of her specially commissioned Tour de Yorkshire paintings are available in a variety of sizes and capture the atmosphere of one of Britain’s most celebrated cycle races in a captivating, almost fairytale-like style.

Not that her work is limited to just the Tour de Yorkshire either – she also produces utterly charming abstract images of individual cyclists or pairs of riders which are alive with the suggestion of speed and urgency.

Prices for prints range from £49-£400, depending on size, and if you do buy one as a gift, you can even attach a Lucy Pittaway cyclist-themed greeting card (£2.95) from the collection to it, so that the lucky soul who gets it will know who to give a grateful hug to.
